Step off the ferry in Üsküdar and you have to decide immediately: turn toward the shore or head up the hill. Because everything here either faces the sea or backs up against a mosque — there's no third option. Walk toward Salacak and you hit tea gardens; go deeper and you hit narrow streets and silence. There's a particular pleasure in watching the other shore's noise from a distance. Don't overthink "what should we do" — Üsküdar takes everything slow anyway. Slow down with it, leave the dice to say where you're headed.
